Starman (English)

Notes:

The hero Starman was created by Gardner Fox and Jack Burnley and first appeared in Adventure Comics (DC, 1938 series) #61, in April 1941. As Theodore "Ted" Knight, he developed the gravity rod, later cosmic rod, which gave him his powers. For a short period during some problems Knight experienced, Dr. Charles McNider (Doctor Mid-Nite) posed as Starman. Ted's sons David and Jack both later assumed the Starman role, with Jack changing the cosmic rod to a staff. When Jack retired as Starman, he gave his staff to Courtney Whitmore who uses it as the Star-Spangled Kid.
There have been several other beings using the Starman name that do not appear to have a direct connection with this feature.
