Ivan Reis (b. 1976)

Biography:

Ivan Reis is a Brazilian comics artist. He is known for his work on comic books such as Dark Horse Comics' Ghost, Marvel Comics' Captain Marvel and Avengers Icons: The Vision and DC Comics' Action Comics, Green Lantern and Aquaman series.

In the beginning of his career, Reis worked for three years Maurício de Sousa in Brazil. He began his international career for Dark Horse Comics working on Ghost (Dark Horse, 1995 series) #17 (August 1996) and acting as regular artist until the series concluded with issue #36. Starting with Lady Death: Dark Millennium (Chaos! Comics, 2000 series) he worked on several Lady Death (English) series. At Marvel he worked on Avengers Icons: The Vision (Marvel, 2002 series) and Captain Marvel (Marvel, 2002 series).

Since 2004, Reis has worked for DC on Action Comics (DC, 1938 series), Rann / Thanagar War (DC, 2005 series), and Infinite Crisis (DC, 2005 series). Reis started pencilling Green Lantern (DC, 2005 series) with issue #10 (May 2006), followed by the Blackest Night (DC, 2009 series) limited series and its follow-up limited series Brightest Day (DC, 2010 series) (July 2010 – June 2011). Reis was the regular penciller of writer Geoff Johns' run on Aquaman (DC, 2011 series) for the first 13 issues before moving to Justice League (DC, 2011 series) where he replaced Jim Lee. In 2018, Reis collaborated with Bendis on the relaunched Superman (DC, 2018 series) ongoing series. From Detective Comics (DC, 2011 series) #1047 [Irvin Rodriguez Cover], he regularly worked on that series. He was cover artist for many regular and variant covers at DC.

In December 2023, Reis announced to join Ghost Machine, where he reunited with Johns on the horror title Hyde Hyde Street (Image, 2024 series).
