Alex Ross is an American painter and illustrator born in 1970. He is known for realistic, photo-referenced artwork for comic books and cover illustrations. His best-known comic book work includes Marvels (Marvel, 1994 series) for Marvel and Kingdom Come (DC, 1996 series) for DC. He has also produced covers and interiors for multiple other comics publishers including Dynamite and Image as well as non-comics work including album covers for the heavy metal band Anthrax and a promotional poster for the 2002 Academy Awards.

Ross appeared on the CBS This Morning TV show, December 22, 2018, and the CBS Evening News broadcast the same day: "Meet the artist who put a realistic spin on comic book superheroes".
