- Namor the Sub-Mariner first appeared in Motion Picture Funnies Weekly (First Funnies, Inc., 1939 series) #1 (1939).
- He first appeared at Timely Comics in Marvel Comics (Marvel, 1939 series) #1 [First Printing] (October 1939).
- His first appearance in the Marvel Universe was in Fantastic Four (Marvel, 1961 series) #4 [Regular Edition] (May 1962), by Stan Lee (b. 1922) and Jack Kirby (b. 1917), where it was revealed that he had been suffering from amnesia since the late 1950s.
First appearance in Earth-689 in The Avengers Annual (Marvel, 1967 series) #2 (September 1968).
First appearance in Earth-691 in Guardians of the Galaxy (Marvel, 1990 series) #9 [Direct] (February 1991).
First appearance (and presumed death) in Earth-295 in X-Universe (Marvel, 1995 series) #1.
