The Image version of The Dragon was introduced in The Savage Dragon (Image, 1992 series) #1 (July 1992). His origin was not shown until Image Comics Hardcover (Image, 2005 series) #1 (November 2005), where it was revealed that he was an evil tyrant named Emperor Kurr, who had planned to wipe out the human race and take over Earth as a new home for his people. Two of his scientists gave the Emperor brain damage and left him behind on Earth without his memory.
