Fictional monster originating from a series of Japanese films.

Notes:

Toho Film Company's movie "Gojira" (called "Godzilla" in many foreign markets) was released in Japan in the Fall of 1954. That same year, a Manga adaptation was published to accompany the film. The first U.S. Godzilla comic was released in the Spring of 1976. It was a 4 page "Godzilla vs. Megalon" promo published by Cinema Shares International Distribution Corp. that was given away for free in participating movie theaters. A year later, Marvel Comics created a Godzilla comic book set in the Marvel Universe, beginning in Godzilla (Marvel, 1977 series) #1 (August 1977).
