‘Big Ed’ Culver Announces Candidacy for Re-Election to the Oklahoma House
Tahlequah, OK – Rep. Bob Ed Culver, widely known as ‘Big Ed,’ has officially declared his candidacy for re-election to the Oklahoma House of Representatives, promising to continue his unwavering commitment to District 4 and its residents.
“Over the last four years, I have ensured that District 4’s voice is heard loud and clear at the Capitol,” Culver said. “I am proud of our work to protect our conservative values, support law enforcement, combat human trafficking and increase public education funding.”
“When re-elected for a third term, I will continue to advocate for our rural schools, work to increase road and bridge repair funding and support legislation that keeps Lake Tenkiller and the Illinois River clean from pollution.”
Culver, a native of Cherokee County and a seasoned cattleman and businessman, is a stalwart defender of conser vative values. A former offensive lineman for the Oklahoma Sooners under legendary coach Barry Switzer, Culver has carried his commitment to excellence from the football field to the House of Representatives.
“I learned on the football field that you never back down from a challenge,” Culver said. “I have taken those same principles and applied them to my service in the Capitol. The battle for our way of life is real.” “We have a crisis at our southern border, fentanyl and illegal marijuana grows are ravaging our communities and there is no help on the horizon at the federal level. Law and order and public safety should never be subjects for compromise, and I am fighting to make sure that District 4, and our state as a whole, can push back against these challenges that are facing so many of our neighboring states as well.”
Culver emphasized that the values of District 4 are at stake.
“I am fighting for the traditional values that we hold dear; respecting our faith, patriotism and liberty,” said Cul ver. “It is a fight that is becoming increasingly more challenging, but I will never back down in my defense of these principles.”
Bob Ed has been happily married to his wife, Julie, for 42 years, and they have been blessed with three married children and six grandchildren.
He serves as Vice Chair of the House Judiciary – Civil Committee, and as a member of the Appropriations & Budget Transportation Subcommittee, Higher Education and Career Tech Committee and Transportation Committee.
