‘From Within’ Stills, Horrorfest Date Shift
This morning After Dark Films provided Bloody-Disgusting with several exclusive stills from the film From Within, which will play in the 2009 AFTER DARK HORRORFEST, which will now run from January 9-15. Set in a small, God-fearing town, story focuses on a young girl caught between her Christian upbringing and a desire to experience the outside world. Her desire to break free is amplified when residents begin to die suspiciously. You’ll find the images inside for the film that will be playing alongside THE BROKEN, BUTTERFLY EFFECT: REVELATION, PERKINS’ 14 and SLAUGHTER.

‘Mutter: The Diary of a Mother’ Exclusive Teaser Gives Birth to a Gnarly New Creature Feature
Premiering next weekend at the Tribeca Film Festival is Mutter: The Diary of a Mother. If our exclusive teaser is any indication, we’re in for one gnarly new creature feature from Turkey.

In the film, “Under traumatic circumstances, Gül gives birth to her first child: an inhuman creature. What’s a single mother to do? Protect her newborn, albeit alien-like, offspring by any means necessary, of course.”
Mutter: The Diary of a Mother is written and directed by Alphan Eşeli, who told Bloody Disgusting of the teaser, “I wanted to make a film where beauty, love, and horror could exist in the same frame.”
The filmmaker is drawing from his personal experience with Mutter; the film was written while his mother was dying.
Eşeli notes in his director’s statement for the film, “Mutter is not about monsters, but about the strange transformations that occur when creation and loss share the same space. The creature became a mirror for everything we try to hide, the beauty, the guilt, the hunger to be seen, and the fear of letting go.”
As for mom’s terrifying new baby, the creature is designed by Australian artist Matt Hatton (Alien: Covenant, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga).
Hazar Ergüçlü leads the cast as Gül. Hazar Ergüçlü, Erdeniz Kurucan, Ulvi Kahyaoğlu, Cansu Fırıncı, Cem Baza, and Bertan Dirikolu also star.
Tribeca’s description of Mutter intrigues: “With horror as singular and disorienting as the best of Andrzej Żuławski and the emotional impact of a sledgehammer, writer-directorAlphan Eseli’s exceptional Mutter is a unique marvel. ”
