My favorite piece of art is the song “Ex Factor” by Lauryn Hill. The song is about being in a relationship that leads to a dead end and just wanting the same amount of love that is put out. I love this song, not only because it’s a good breakup song but because the message is powerful. Lauryn Hill’s song is very relatable, there are a ton of relationships where people know they shouldn’t stay with their partner but couldn’t imagine a world without them. They have worked so hard on trying to perfect the relationship, that they become dependent on that certain individual and lose their self-worth. Even though it kills them inside to be constantly let down they would rather have it that way than any other way. The chorus of the song says, “No matter how I think we grow you always seem to let me know it ain't workin'… You'd hurt yourself to make me stay this is crazy, this is crazy”. …show more content…
Also “You’d hurt yourself to make me stay” means that he panicked and made it seem like he was going to change just so Hill wouldn’t leave. This state of panic and confession of love only happens when she is on the edge of leaving, but he continues to go right back to his ways soon after. In the last stanza of the song Hill screams “Care for me, care for me! I know you care for me! There for me, there for me! Said you'd be there for me! Cry for me, cry for me! You said you'd die for me! Give to me, give to me! Why won't you live for me?!”. This is her breaking point, all the things she is questioning she does for her significant one unconditionally so it’s heartbreaking when he cannot return the same amount of love. The argument being presented in this song is that staying doesn’t always promise love, dedication and the returned feeling of being
During the dawn of the new century, a young black woman taps on her microphone, surrounded by everything from the romantic twang of a harp to the rustic beat of the timpani drum. Her hair twisted in locks, envelopes her face – the studio lights streaming on her face make her look like a lion, courageous and proud of herself, her ideals and her vision. This isn’t even the beginning.
When she realizes her imperfections are valuable, she has a whole new outlook on her life, which fills her with hope and motivates her to become a better version of herself. The tone in this song reflects a feeling of being content with one's self-image because she finally wonders "why [should she] waste a second not loving who [she is] (Bedingfield 10)? This realization is what brings her out of her depression, concerning what she looks like, to the decision of embracing her appearance because she is beautiful no matter what society
To start off, the first stanza in her song represents a sense of how unavoidable change is and how the confusion of the bond combined with the stress of the blame game can lead to a doomed
She wants to be hurt to the point that she can stop liking him. Nonetheless, she still likes him, and curses, "I want you so much/ but I hate your guts" (19-20). Clearly, she will always love the boy - but because she cannot have him, she will resent him all the same. Tone: The tone of this song is "bitter."
Art, of all kinds, has played a role in our lives from the beginning of time and will continue to play a role in our lives and our emotions until the end of time. Works of art, from music to painting to dance to drama, all have the capabilities to bring out emotions of the people who view, hear or watch it. Many people get different emotions or feelings from different works of art, for example some people get a calming feelings from Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night while others get a feeling of a serious sadness due to the colors. Vincent Van Gogh, Edvard Munch, and Clanet Monet all were great artist who all achieved a great deal of emotional appeal in their works of art.
This song speaks to you in first person wich gives you a better understanding of the relationship between the person speaking and the person he’s talking about. The theme of the song revolves around never giving up on a loved one, reassuring them of hope. The rhyming scheme used throughout the song was mostly AAAB or AAB.
I have sacrificed so much for you, but all you have given me is hardship and grief.
The message of the song is we’re human that have faults, we cannot be perfect without faults and shouldn’t try changing for others. The song’s constant use of “I can...” is saying that we can do anything, but then we hear; “I’m only human”, which contradicts each other. Because the lyrics saying you can do anything but at the same time its saying we have limits.” I can do it/But I 'm only human” (11, 14). Christina repeats these two phrases through-out her song to make us understand that it’s okay to not be perfect. We see that the singer makes herself believe that she cannot be flawed, because then she won’t find happiness. Then she goes and tells us that she 's only human, which we realize that us human are not perfect. Yet she says its fine being defected. The singer makes us relate to what she is singing about by repeating; “And I bleed when I fall down/I 'm only human/And I crash and I break down/Your words in my head, knives in my heart/You build me up
In reference to singer, Beyoncé’s newest album, Lemonade, troubles in a relationship can be a stressful time in both parties lives; especially during a break up. One will naturally feel a plethora of emotions at once. The most common may be confusion, anger, and eventually sadness. The question of “maybe I was not good enough?” may slip into the individual’s self-conscious state of mind. The question may in turn follow with a range of other doubtful inquiries. Despite how the individual may feel, a break up is not the end of the world. The path to acceptance is a long journey, but it is one that can be reached by releasing one’s emotions, channeling one’s feelings into productivity, and maintaining a social life.
In the following songs titled “Don’t Hurt Yourself,” “Sorry,” “Daddy Issues,” and “6 Inch” she expresses anger and her drive for independence and self-reliance. In “Don’t Hurt Yourself,” she ends the song by saying,
Many pieces of artwork hold an underlying meaning to them, some more clear than others. These messages can also be perceived differently by individuals. The graffiti artist, Banksy produces some of my favorite pieces of art. His unique artwork normally consists of stenciling and spray paint to make images focused on compelling controversial topics with deep meaning. Some of his work, like one of his most popular pieces, "Well Hung Lover" even has a comedic aspect to them.
The denotation of this song is how someone can’t get over a breakup and how it takes too long to move on, causing depression in some cases, causing people to hurt themselves. That someone wouldn’t move on, thinking about the other person every day, begging them to come back. “I'm tripping over myself, I'm aching begging you to come help.” The song “Stitches” has a lot of connotation within it.
questions how a husband/boyfriend/etc had enough money to pay for their wife/girlfriend to undergo such expensive surgeries that can range from thousands of dollars to millions. Not only is she questioning perhaps an illegal side the husband/boyfriend could have taken to save enough money for such a surgery but she is questioning the marriage or so called relationship in which the man doesn’t love the woman for who she is and how she looks like in the first place. The idea that women are often pressured into conforming into the idea of plastic surgery is evident and highlighted. Women are pressured by multiple sources, ranging from social media, friends, family to even their significant other. In the third and final part of the chorus, the lyrics “ Do you swear you'll stay forever?/Even if her face don't stay together/
The piece of artwork, that I chose was “The Dance of Life” by Edvard Munch. This piece of artwork can be found at the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design in Oslo which is located in Norway. The reason why I chose this particular piece was because my eye was drawn to the color of the red dress of the dancer at the focal point. The red dress reminded me of the symbolism that the red dress plays in John Steinbeck’s book Of Mice and Men as Curley’s wife uses her body for attention. Furthermore, I couldn’t help but notice that the expressions on mostly everyone’s face was one that was quite somber. The couple in the middle, isn’t looking at one another as if they are in love, as one would expect, but instead their expressions convey
In the song “These Days” the most apparent concept is identity crisis. Caplen sings, “Leaving to find my soul, told her I had to go”, giving reason of why he had to leave. This “girl” he is with, has blocked him from finding and loving himself, which is a very current issue in adolescent relationships nowadays. When you allow yourself to become so invested in your partner, you start to lose sight of who you are as a person. The issue with that is sometimes the person doesn’t realize that it is an issue, and if they do end up breaking up,
