Max Remus couldn’t care less about finding his mate—unlike the rest of his fate-obsessed pack. He totally prefers hanging with his bestie, eating his dad’s steak sandwiches, and drawing in his trusty sketchbook.

But all that is about to change at the Blue Moon Festival—a summer camp where Elite Pack wolves go to find their mates. The festival is a right of passage for every teen werewolf, and this year’s festival will be one to howl home about. The alpha’s son, Jasper Apollo, is attending for the first time.

When Max finds himself inexplicably linked with the exceptionally handsome but totally jerk-faced heir, he’s forced to grapple with the unexpected feelings clawing at his soul.

If Max rejects his destiny, will fate’s bite be worse than its bark?

Netflix's Young Royals meets Teen Wolf meets Twilight––the first installment in a thrilling new series, The Alpha's Son is a heart-wrenching Young Adult, Boys Love, wolf shifter romance; full of yearning, comedy, and adventure.

Start reading now! And may the Moon Gods light the path between souls.

Review

"Full to the brim with teenage angst, werewolf lore, and plenty of pining, this supernatural romance is perfect for fans of Wranglestone and The Fell of Dark." - Philip Ellis author of Love and Other Scams

"The Alpha's Son is an adorable debut filled with humor and intrigue. With the perfect amount of teen angst and awkwardness, Jessup weaves a story, who's end you won't see coming, about following your heart and knowing your worth." - Jordon Greene author of Every Word You Never Said

About the Author

Penny Jessup has been writing from an early age. Whether it's Riverdale fan-fiction or werewolf romances, she's cut her teeth online and now works as a freelance copywriter. She has a bachelors in creative writing and lives in upstate New York with her partner and their dog, Taco. She loves anime, baking while listening to her favorite podcasts, and hiking in the woods near her house. This is her first novel and, hopefully, the first in a long running series.

This was the cutest story ever! I was so happy to read Jaspers POV, it did changed my mind on how I felt towards him, but all I can without giving too much away, it’s definitely a must read. It’s funny, heart warming, cheesy but yet thrilling to read. The way Max and Jasper are, you just want that happy ending. I’m bagging for their happy ending. I can’t wait to read the 2nd and 3rd. I’m in love with Max, such a beautiful soul! 🥹🖤🌹✨

I enjoyed this book. I didn't want to put it down. The author is very creative and clever with the plot. It has plenty of twist, and surprises. The authors writing style is also straight forward. Which I enjoy, but I feel it's to suit the age range the books target audience is for. With that said certain factors like a characters use of the word dude felt misplaces. Like it was thrown in for the target audience. My only true problem with the book was this ending. I understand there will be a follow up book, but that makes it even worse. I don't want to read another whole book to potentially get the results I expected at this end of this book.

I am a 30 year old gay man that has always disliked reading, but this book changed that. It is not a cringe fest like I was worried about with the whole, "gay boy falls for popular kid... but they're warewolves" feel of the synopsis. There are many little things I can pick out that I didn't like or I would have written differently, but that is the point isn't it? I am generally very good at predicting storylines, and this one kept me guessing. If every book went the way you want and you weren't a little conflicted every now and then, what is the point?

It is tough to understand one of the main character's emotional decisions, Jasper, and I have seen a lot of flak thrown at this book for that reason. I love someone who has made similar, seemingly illogical, decisions and know why they did it. I don't feel like the author does well enough to explain his reasoning, but it was easy for me to fill in the gaps. While in no way do you need to be queer to enjoy this book; it is much easier to understand the source of Jasper's decisions and potentially forgive them if you are queer.

To be honest, I was truly pissed off when I realized the book was going to end on a cliff hanger because I did not pay attention that it is part 1 of 2. Not because the cliff hanger is extreme (it isn't), I just became so emotionally invested in the main characters and this universe, I wanted an immediate fully wrapped up happy ending. I eagerly await Nov 2023 for part 2.

While I am a bit more emotionally attached to this book because my life experiences mimic some characters and events, I still believe this is a great book for all.

Plenty of laughs but inexplicable goings on

There were plenty of laughs in this story and I enjoyed them very much. The MC has a quick whit and it made for some funny thoughts and comments. I also like arrogant, mean MLs and Jasper didn't disappoint in this area.

Unfortunately, that's where the good stuff ends for me.

I didn't care for the MC. In spite of his whit and comedic commentary, he was often rude, lacked enough smarts to know when to just get out of the way, and was even spiteful and mean sometimes.

I liked the ML, but unfortunately, he didn't show up often. That might change in the second book but I don't plan on reading that one.

Inexplicable things happen that really made no sense and pulled me out of the story. I don't want to spoil anything so I can only say that situations arise that shouldn't considering the circumstances. Anyway, it threw me off and had me rolling my eyes. I enjoy YA novels and have come to expect some of this kind of thing, but it just didn't work for me in this story.

If you're looking for a zero-angst story that is easy to read, this is probably the book for you, if the MC doesn't turn you off like he did with me. If you're looking for characters with depth and a despicable ML with plenty of page time, then you will want to look elsewhere.

I normally never write a review for a book, but after I saw some of the reviews for the Alpha's Son, I felt it necessary to say a little something.

For a debut novel, this truly was an impressive piece about real emotions and angst that was captured so accurately in this teen romance. The characters remained relatable throughout the story, and the plot progressed very nicely. There was definitely some room left there at the end for a sequel, but I felt this was the natural progression of where the plot should have gone. The fact that the author defied the norm most authors will follow that the main two characters of any romance HAVE to fall in love and live happily ever after by the end of the first book made me admire the series even more. I think it adds a little extra to this series because of the fact that the author remains realistic in her expectations of the progression of romance.

This truly has become one of my favorites, and I've been on the edge of my seat waiting for a sequel!

The first half of this book definitely reads as a teenager trying to figure out life (which is exactly what’s happening) but whew, I told myself I was just going to read until 6 but then the plot kept getting more and more and here we are at nearly 11 pm and I finished the book. Definitely worth the read! 4 stars, though, because I noticed in a few places words were placed wrong (like the word restaurants was written where restraints should have been). The reason I comment on that is it was the only thing that pulled me out of this book when I had to go back and reread the sentence/ paragraph to piece together what was meant to be there. That being said, I could easily picture everything and I truly did not put the book down until it was finished. Just sad I have to wait until December for the next one. ♥️♥️♥️😭

I really liked this book— It had a lot of twists and turns, and I spent many nights awake eating them up. It was quite the emotional rollercoaster and I cried several times, but that’s alright— As a young LBGT person, can I just say how well it was made?— I have nothing bad about the book to say, I’m just upset that I didn’t read it later in time so that I could see the next book sooner!

Thank you for this great book! Very excited for the next!

I’m not very good at reviews, but I need to fet these words out—
