    A Paranormal must read!

Reviewed in the United States on April 2, 2012
    Format: Kindle

Let me start by saying that the Jeff Resnick series is my favorite paranormal series ever. Since I've read all the books in this series I am grateful for these short stories to keep me going until the next book comes out.

"Cold Case" deals with the untimely death of a young child. I usually never read stories about a child being harmed but this author was able to avoid the usual pitfalls of a story like this and use it instead to delve into the deepest paranormal experiences of Jeff Resnick.

Jeff, in this story, knows from the get go that the little boy will not be coming home. Rather than dwell on the heart break of a Mother's loss, Jeff follows his paranoraml instincts and wanders where his spirit leads him. The author brings us into the intensity of Jeff's "gift' by helping us to understand that he not only empathizes with the Mother...he absorbs her feelings. I believe this is what may also bring on his migraine headaches resulting in Jeff's becoming ill in the neighbor's apt.

I don't want to give away too much of this story and ruin the pleasure of anyone planning on reading this story so...let me just say that you will not be disappointed by this journey into Jeff's paranormal abilities. Each book in this series and each short story is a journey that I am experiencing with Jeff. All I can say is "thank-you" to this creative author and please keep writing.

I Highly recommend this short story to all readers.

(I read this on my Kindle and purchased this short story from amazon)

    Good read...different synopsis...

Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2012
    Format: Kindle

I stumbled across the L.L.Bartlett Jeff Resnick Mysteries, and was so taken with the synopsis that I downloaded all 4 of the series. I enjoyed the characters immensely, and the slight twist on the psychic powers is more believable than most. I always enjoy stories about the down and out overcoming the difficult challenges in their life, and the main character Jeffrey is that. The extremely rich brother is a little less believable, but still an enjoyable foil to Jeffrey's less than perfect life. I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys their characters slightly flawed and the psychic twist less than the perfect answer.

I normally don't bother with short stories but I so enjoyed Murder on the Mind that I just went for it!

Very neat short story. Just enough to keep my interest peaked for Jeff. You just have to love this guy. He's about as "real" a fictional character as you can get. No matter what he has to face or how he handles it you find yourself in his corner 100%. Sort of like the middle child type thing. haha. I find myself wanting to put my arms across his shoulders and say "keep plugging away Jeffy, you can do it". Read this for sure, you won't be disappointed.

I really enjoy the Bartlett Jeff Resnick mysteries & this was no exception.

I pride myself on leaving useful reviews & I made the mistake of just trying to catch up on reviews w/ the same review for a large number of free ebooks I'd downloaded. If you've read my "generic free ebook" reviews, I apologize. I am now taking time to revise reviews & refresh my memory on what I've read. Please check out my reviews again. A very tightly written and suspenseful short story. I enjoyed the read and wished the story had been drawn out a bit. The ending is worth the quick read and the price of the Kindle edition.

Now that I know how enjoyable her work is, I'm on to some of Ms. Bartlett's full-length novels.

Wow definitely a quick read but brilliant!

Picking up a short story involving characters you know and realise how developed they've become in just a few books is a great writing gift.

Jeff doesn't disappoint in this story about finding a missing 4 yr old boy as a favour for his brother. The result is quick and surprising.

Not with the story as it is very good but by the fact that I had only just finished reading Bound by suggestion and did not realise that this was the first part of that book ! The story line really gets you turning the pages but I recommend that you read Bound by Suggestion instead of this book as the story then continues and gets even more intriguing. Definitely a better read
