One of the Boys I really enjoyed this cd by Gretchen Wilson. One song in particular stands out and that is 'COME TO BED" (featuring John Rich), it speaks of never going to bed angry with each other. This cd is varied in subjects and straight to the point as only Gretchen can be. Can be enjoyed by one and all no matter what kind of music you like.

Gretchen is the ultimate Redneck Woman and she never disappoints she is excellent. If your a redneck Girl you need this cd in your collection. My wife wears her name on the back of her belt and this was a great B-Day gift for her and I enjoy the tunes too!

Gretchen and her band perform to a high standard with a good range and variety of songs.

Excellent but in fairness I'm a fan of hers.

Whats to say, you either like the gretch or you don't...can't imagine why not.

I have several of Gretchen's CDs and this one is an earlier version but the "outlaw" evidence is still there. Love it!!

This is what I need!

A real-sounding, great-looking woman, with some real-sounding content. And she's funny too! I'm in love!

Around the time of its release, I bought Here For The Party to play in the hire car between Houston and San Antonio and back. Unfortunately, on reaching George Bush International I left the CD in the player and inexplicably never replaced it, and then never quite got round to trying All Jacked Up. But the release of One Of The Boys prompted me to drink from the well once more. Good choice.

The first two tracks have John Rich, the producer, all over them. They could have been taken from Horse Of A Different Color, with the steel guitars and fiddle having the same kind of feel: The Girl I Am is a defiant assertion of self; Come To Bed speaks of the healing effects of the bedroom, and features John Rich in fine voice to accompany Wilson.

The title track peels away the façade from the tough girl who can out-drink, out-cuss and out-play (at pool) any of the guys to reveal the inner need for some TLC. A nice post-feminist anthem.

You can already see a whole line of bartenders lining up You Don't Have To Go Home on the juke box to play at the end of the evening to signal that "You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here." A great rockin' piece of Country for the watering hole.

There's A Place In The Whiskey and Pain Killer are about trying to rid yourself of unhappiness; good Country songs in the tradition of Hank's I'm So Lonesome, except that Place In The Whiskey is more like I'm So Lonesome I Could Get Totally Hammered And Make A Lotta Noise!

If You Want A Mother is one of those songs only Country can do, but this is not a Stand-By-Your-Man Country girl: if her man is just looking for a mother substitute "I'll show you what a mother I can be". Nice play on words. This song'll have you laughing out loud, and so will There Goes The Neighbourhood - trailerpark trash meets Beverly Hills - "You throw a hillbilly log into the Hollywood / There goes the neighbourhood," Wilson whooping out the final syllable. And the next track, Good Ole Boy, made me wish I'd never traded in my blue collar for white, and gave me a strange urge to take up catfishin'. I've gotta get this girl somehow.

Great record then, and I think I might just get me another copy of Here For The Party. Meantime, where's my truck and rod? I've got a Redneck Woman I need to impress. And I guarantee I can do my own ironing!
