The final battle
Reviewed in the United States on November 17, 2012Yusuke Urameshi is a high school delinquent. He doesn't go to class, and he's always getting in fights. One day he is trying to save a boy that is about to be hit by a car, he is killed instead. He is approached by a pretty girl flying on a broom. Her name is Botan, and she's the Grimm Reaper. She offers him a chance to regain his life. After coming back to life Yusuke becomes a Spirit Detective. He gain spiritual powers and hunts down rogue apparitions that cause trouble for the living world. He is joined by his friend Kuwabara, the demons Hiei and Kurama. Together they fight off the deadly demons that seek to destroy the world.
The fight between Yusuke and Toguro comes to an end. Yusuke puts everything into one final attack. When the dust clears the crowd holds their breath. Will either fighter be alive.
This is a great series. It has lots of cool characters, good animation, voice acting, and a very engrossing story. It's a very long anime, so if you want to watch it be prepared to like it and spend a long time with it. It's one of those that gets more interesting as it progresses. Even though it has a bang up start it maintains the flow throughout. I would even go so far as to say that it's one of the most famous anime series' of all time. It has a bit of a Dragonball Z vibe to it, and everyone likes that. I highly recommend Yu Yu Hakusho to every anime fan, it's simply amazing.

Yu Yu Hakusho The end of the Dark Tournament
Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2003This DVD is fantastic. It shows how after Kurama beat Karasu, the Urameshi team beats all of the Toguro's. Heie beats Bui, the Giant axe guy, with Double Dragon of the Darkness Flame. Kuwabara beats the Elder Toguro with his weapon that Suzuka gave him plus his own huge spirit energy sword. Young Toguro faces Yusuke, and after much fighting, Yusuke uses his spirit gun at max power and Toguro uses 120% of his strength. Toguro blocks the spirit gun, but since he used so much energy blocking it, he shattered into many pieces and died. Team Urameshi is declared the winner, and Sakyo, the manager of Team Toguro kills himself.
If you like Yu Yu Hakusho, this is a must see DVD. Buy it, you'll watch it over and over again and you'll never get tired of it. If you don't buy it, you'll be missing out on a whole lot of awesome Yu Yu Hakusho action!!!

It Comes to This...The End of the Dark Tournament!
Reviewed in the United States on May 1, 2004It's finally here! The last fight of the Dark Tournament has arrived and both fighters are ready! Once again, my crappy subtitles and cutting entire parts of fights comes into effect making my review based on around 5 minutes. But I still can write a good review!
Toguro has Yusuke on the ropes and begins to play with his mind to release what he wants to face: 100% of Yusuke's power! He learns from his former fighting partner, the late Genkai, currently possessing Puu, Yusuke's spirit beast, how to finally release that power. Unfortunetely for Yusuke, it involves killing his best friend.
With Kuwabara dead (I'm implying he's dead due to the fact that his heart seems to have been ripped out), Yusuke releases all the energy he can. With his final blow, he fires his spirit gun at maximum power, but Toguro counters with 120% of his energy! (Don't ask me how it's possible, I'm in advanced math and don't feel like trying to explain it even to myself)
With that, Yusuke shatters Toguro's demon body he recieved from the Dark Tournament 50 years prior. Finally, HE"S DEAD!!!
In all: this is the greatest end to the series I could see! Even though Kuwabara and Genkai seemed to have died, I'm guessing they're coming back since they're in the movie, Poltergeist Report (see my other review there).

Explosive ending to the Dark Tournament
Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2004The Dark Tournament is drawing to a close. Toguro has powered up to 100%, and is disappointed that Yusuke can't compete with his awesome power. He begins sucking the souls from audience members, hoping to anger Yusuke, but it doesn't do much. There is only one thing left to do. Toguro takes the life of one of Yusuke's friends. Now, Yusuke is enraged. He doesn't know what to do. He begins to blame himself for the loss. He powers up and attacks...

Hands down the best volume yet. Do NOT miss it.
Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2004The conclusion to the Dark Tournament, something that started in the US a full year ago, has finally come. It's Yusuke vs. Toguro, but Yusuke's getting beaten BADLY. To unlock his true power, Toguro will kill Yusuke's best friend....... which means I'd hate to be Kuwabara right now. Even though the battle's only the first half of the volume, the second half is just as good, if not better. The first half is really the fight, the second is the drama afterwards. And they both equal some excellent episodes. Genkai's goodbye to Toguro in the last episode is a very good moment, leaving me at the end of my seat even more than any battle in the series thus far. And the voice acting on both versions is great. The US dub has done a very good job, giving real believability and emotion to the characters. It's hard to believe that these are the same people responsible for the awful DBZ dub. This is a perfect example of why Yu Yu Hakusho is one of the best anime I've seen thus far.
I have never given a 10/10 score to Yu Yu Hakusho DVD before.
I am gladly giving one now.

How could it get any better?!
Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2003Okay, this was INCREDIBLE!!! This DVD has a great mix of action, drama, romance, tragedy, and comedy. I cannot get enough of these episodes. I just can't say enough about it! Although I have to add, that when Puu-Genkai slaps Yusuke with her ear, it was hilarious! Listen to my advice, if you are even a mild, seen one episode, fan, you HAVE to have this DVD. Because its "...nothing to shake a stick sideways at, or so I'd say."

I've been waiting for this for a long time...
Reviewed in the United States on March 17, 2004Wonderful, amazing, AWESOME!! Loved it. The final fight: Yusuke vs. Toguro. Genkai's reunion with Toguro after death, so romantic. I'm trying not to spoil the end!
