      フック、ヒューのコンビのこのシリーズ。シェフィールド大学の長年の日本研究を代表するシリーズでもある。しかし、最近のこの二人の勢いも落ちているし、この先の日本の事は、彼らには書けないかもしれない。フックはもうご高齢、ヒューは日本への懐疑心が強くなってからは、いいものを書けていない。外国勢でここも知っているのという点は評価できるが、そろそろ終わりなのかなと。
