Hi, I’m Joy Marier, author of the Silly Mutts Tales series, where I use humor and heart to help children build strong social-emotional skills. Before becoming an author, I spent years teaching foster and special education children at Family Solutions. During that time, I saw how powerful stories can be in helping children develop confidence, learn life skills, and feel a sense of belonging. Those experiences inspired me to create books that are not only fun, but meaningful and purposeful. The first three books in my series focus on learning responsibility and include Two Tails Are Better Than One – A Silly Mutts Tale (Young Pup Edition), the Parent & Teacher Guide, and Responsible Pup – A Silly Mutts Tale Coloring Book (Show You Care). Each set is designed to work together—combining storytelling, guided discussion, and interactive activities to help children understand responsible behavior. The series continues with future sets focused on respectful behavior and safe behavior, with each theme including a storybook, a parent and teacher guide, and a coloring book to support deeper learning. My rescue dog, Candy, is the inspiration behind the series, bringing personality, humor, and heart into every story. With support from my husband, Terry Marier, M.C., who has a background in children’s therapy, each book is thoughtfully created for families, educators, counselors, and caregivers. Through Silly Mutts Tales, my goal is to help children laugh, learn, and grow—while giving the adults in their lives simple tools to guide meaningful conversations. I’m also proud to share that a portion of proceeds supports Family Solutions.
