Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2015Format: PaperbackThis book is excellent. With examples of studies and articles in the text, it makes understanding of the statistics and methods much easier to understand. I am excited to continue reading this book as I think it will further my education immensely.
I think the best way to use this book is to have a journal article you want to look at and then read the appropriate chapters for that article rather than reading it from start to finish. If the article is an RCT that describes NNT and RR, then read those chapters.
I would recommend this to any medical student or resident that feels frustrated or simply wants to improve their understanding of journal article findings.

Great book but I wish the kindle version has more functionality
Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2017Format: KindleI recently purchased the kindle version of the book. There is no doubt about the quality of the contents of the book it's a must for everyone who is interested in EBM and like to understand how to read research articles.
I use it by reading a chapter and trying to critically evaluate a similar article published in one of the major journals ( NEJM, NATURE, JAMA, JACC) as well as some other mid tier journals. To understand the intricate differences in quality of quality he articles published sometime I compliment this with the information form EQUATOR network another great resource for understanding medical literature it has lot of tools that'll help you in critical appraisal of an article
Enough about the good things now coming to the problems and how we can improve them - these are for Amazon kindle version only
The books Tqble of contents are not directing me to the specific chapter sometimes especially while I use it on my I phone kindle app and it's frustrating not sure if it's an issue with the book or kindle app because when I use kindle cloud reader on desktop it works fine.
Also the book doesn't have the search functionality yet meaning it f you want to search something in the book using kindle search function it's not available, I think it's an essential feature that should be available soon especially knowing it's in its 3rd edition now
Hope these issues gets resolved soon otherwise it's a great resource

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 31, 2018Format: PaperbackI don't do any research. But as a physician you need to be able to harvest information as not all info can be found in books. This book gives you the strategies to fascilitate this and do it in an effective way.
I did not read it chronologically, as this made no sense to me. However my experiance was not hampered by this, on the contrary.
