1960年京都府生まれ。京都大学教育学部卒業。同大学院博士後期課程修了。在学中は京都大学推理小説研究会に所属する。1987年に『十角館の殺人』でデビュー。「新本格ミステリ」ムーヴメントの嚆矢となる。1992年に『時計館の殺人』で第45回日本推理作家協会賞を受賞。「館」シリーズという一連の長編は、現代本格ミステリを牽引しつづけている。ミステリ、ホラー、怪談など幅広く活躍。2012年に「館」シリーズ9作めとなる『奇面館の殺人』(講談社ノベルス)を上梓。

    あまりに有名なため、犯人も、あの一文も知っていましたが、それでも十分楽しめました。

    ネットでネタバレしたからといってその作品を避けてしまうのはもったいない事だとあらためて実感しました。

    犯人を知りながら読むと、ここで一応示唆してたんだな、ここの台詞はミスリードだろうな、といった視点で読めるのでそれはそれで楽しいです。

    サクサク話が進むので飽きないですし、ボリュームもほどほど。面白さがギュッと詰まった、でも重すぎないミステリを読みたい時にお勧めです。

    犯人の動機や人間的な背景は薄いです。あえてなのでしょうが、不幸な過去とか愛憎とかどうしようもない理由に感情移入するのではなく、パズル的にトリックを楽しむための作品です。

    面白い良い小説です。

    お金を出して買って損はしない内容です。

    最近の他所のミステリー要素何処行ったよってツッコミたくなるような社会派だかポリコレだかの要素を盛り込んだ小説と違って、純粋なミステリーな所が良いですね。

    けど、犯人がチープなのが残念。

    駆けつけ3杯は当たり前の時代で、隠れて付き合っていた病弱な彼女を残して帰って殺人ですからね。

    いつも一次会で帰る彼女が珍しく3次会に残ったのも彼氏がいたからでしょ。

    令和と違ってガバガバ飲ませられるのが当たり前の時代で、まして大学生。彼女が心臓弱いと知っていたのは彼氏だけで被害者達は知らなかった。

    誰もいなくなったの犯人とは違って微妙ですよね。自分の非から目を逸らしての八つ当たりとしか思えない。

    恥ずかしくて交際関係を公表出来なくても、彼女が心臓弱いから気を配ってくれと言い残して帰るべきだった。

    彼氏としても大人としても悪役としてもチープな人だと思います。

    彼女が発作起こしたのだって彼氏に置いてかれた精神的なショックの割合も少なからずあったんじゃないですかね。

    まぁ、飲み慣れてない女性が周りに流されて自分の限界も分からずに飲み過ぎて起きた事故としか言えないですよね。

    そもそもですけど、心臓弱い事を赤の他人とはいえない、遊び飲食を共にする同じサークル仲間に隠すなよと思いました。アレルギーとか病気とか障害とか隠して症状が悪化した際に周りは適切な対応が出来ないし悪化しないように気をつける事も出来ない。
