AATSEEL is pleased to announce that the Slavic and East European Journal is transitioning to a new editorial team. Starting on August 1, 2025 and with the Winter issue 69.4, Professor George Gasyna (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign) will assume the role of Editor. Dr. Gasyna is a specialist in Polish and Central European languages, literatures, cultures, and cinema. Professor Sofya Khagi (University of Michigan) will take on the role of Associate Editor. Dr. Khagi has a primary focus on twentieth- and twenty-first century Russian literature and Baltic literatures and cultures. Dr. Serenity Stanton Orengo, who has several years’ experience as SEEJ’s editorial assistant, will become the journal’s Managing Editor.
As AATSEEL welcomes the new team, we would like to express our enormous thanks to the outgoing editorial team, Dr. Yana Hashamova and Dr. Alexander Burry. They have been at the helm for the past eight years, leading the journal as a vital forum for scholarly discussions in our field. We also want to thank the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the Ohio State University for its financial support for SEEJ over the past eight years.
We are very grateful to the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign for its financial and moral support in making this transition possible. We would also like to express our profound gratitude to all the AATSEEL members who contributed to the SEEJ fund that will help support the journal over the next three years.
We encourage AATSEEL members to submit their scholarly work to SEEJ and the SEEJ Blog. Editorial policies and submission details will continue to be housed at: www.seej.org, and the new editors can be contacted at: editors@seej.org
