Last Friday I saw wild boar on one of my usual walking trails! I first heard some rustling in the bushes, and I thought it was just a bird, but then there was some thumping noises and a giant boar crossed the trail just a few meters in front of me...! And then on Monday I walked the same trail again and saw a deer in roughly the same spot. I walk this route a few times per week but rarely see anything, I wonder what got them to show up all of a sudden... The heat? (there's a stream nearby...)

I've been reading some books about climbing lately, like "The Next Everest" by Jim Davidson and "Surviving K2" by Wilco van Rooijen (it was nice that this was available in Dutch!), but the more I read climbing books like this, the less desire I have to climb any mountains taller than 3000 meters or so, especially not if there's snow and ice involved... My hiking group might be planning a trip to either Mt. Shirouma or Mt. Yarigatake in August (depending on where we can get a mountain hut reservation), and that's plenty of adventure for me >w<

Today I have the afternoon off work! I'm finally done with some deadlines BUT ended up with extra work because a freelancer got sick and we have to do some of our work ourselves instead now ^^; Oh well, guess it's better than running out of work entirely?

Anyway, I took the time off because my friend got us a reservation at the new Tenipuri collaboration cafe! We wanted to go to either that one or the Natsume Yuujinchou one, but we missed the announcement for when tickets went on sale, and now all the timeslots are full T_T I'm checking every day if any cancellations show up, but no luck so far... So I'm glad to at least go to the Tenipuri one!

I also did a bunch of cleaning and tidying because I might have three people over at the same time next Saturday... I have 4 futons, 2 sleeping pads, and 2 sofa beds so technically it shouldn't be a problem to have three or four people over in addition to myself... But normally I layer stuff to maximize comfort (like putting a sleeping pad and a futon on top of the sofa bed so it's softer) so it's interesting trying to figure out logistics so that everyone will be comfortable... And also not overheat, because only 2 of my rooms have A/C installed, so I'll have to put the guests in my living room and home office, even though the tatami room is normally the most practical for guests (I normally sleep there myself but retreat to the home office - the messiest room - when I have overnight guests). I normally don't use AC at all either to save on bills and maintenance, but I'll make an exception for guests XD

People sometimes ask me "why is your apartment so tidy?" and I think this is the secret - have people over on a regular basis, so that I'll be forced to clean so they won't think I'm a slob, lol (But they have no idea what it looks like normally...)
