Yes, the GitHub Foundations Certification is still available, but only for free to verified students in github

Yes,Verified students in the GitHub Student Developer Pack are eligible for one free voucher to take the GitHub Foundations Certification exam. This voucher covers the exam fee once.
But there are a couple of caveats currently in practice:
GitHub has been transitioning the certification system (e.g., moving voucher/checkout platforms), and some students report issues finding or redeeming the voucher right now.
Some people on community threads see the offer show up temporarily as unavailable or with a “try again later” message — which suggests the voucher distribution system is paused or limited at times.
If the voucher is visible, it must be claimed before scheduling the exam. After claiming, you typically schedule the exam through the certification provider (formerly PSI or now Pearson VUE).

How to get it
Make sure your GitHub Student Developer Pack is fully approved and visible on your GitHub Education page.
Visit the Student Developer Pack page and scroll to the “About GitHub Certification Offer” section.

I agree with the above. I've been trying to get my free voucher since summer 2025. I appreciate that vouchers were paused during the migration from PSI to Pearson Vue but at the moment in January 2026 I'm still getting error messages such as "this offer is not available, please try again later". I hope Github would be able to provide us a timeline for when new vouchers would be available.
