We are launching The Dispatch to do right as we see it, by providing engaged citizens fact-based reporting and commentary on politics, policy and culture —informed by conservative principles. And, importantly, to offer a community and forum for thoughtful discussion and civil disagreement. We will be timely and topical, but we won’t be slaves to the relentless pace of the news cycle. We will slow things down, deliberately—because we think the times require more deliberation. Whenever possible, we want to pause and think before we react, to research and report before sharing our views. The daily race to be wrong first on Twitter can be entertaining and instructive, but we have no interest in entering the competition. In short, we aim to zig in an era of zagging. https://lnkd.in/e3Hu3XD

My latest for The Dispatch: A deeper dive on the economic advisory committee terminations. I spoke with former BEA & BLS officials and committee members about the significance of their work and what the closures signal about the administration's treatment of key economic stats. https://lnkd.in/eRu3vuTB

Big news: The Dispatch has acquired SCOTUSblog, and we're thrilled to welcome cofounder Amy Howe—widely respected as one of the nation's leading legal journalists—to our team. SCOTUSblog has been the gold standard for Supreme Court coverage for more than two decades. And in the five short years that The Dispatch has covered the courts, we’ve established ourselves as a top source for coverage of SCOTUS and legal affairs. Reliable coverage of the Supreme Court has never been more important. With the addition of SCOTUSblog, The Dispatch is well-positioned to become the definitive source for authoritative reporting and analysis of the Supreme Court and the rule of law. With an unbridled executive branch and a Congress eager to surrender its constitutional prerogatives, the federal judiciary will play an increasingly important role. It’s our job to help our members understand this role and the decisions that will shape the nation’s future.

We just received word: We won a Webby Award! Thanks to your support (and your votes), we were selected as the People’s Voice Winner for best news and politics website. We are honored by the recognition—but more importantly, we are deeply grateful for the backing of our dedicated community. https://lnkd.in/efMic2ia

NEW from TALLAHASSEE: Gov. Ron DeSantis is eyeing a 2028 presidential run while his wife, Casey, readies a 2026 gubernatorial bid. But ahead of them lies a political minefield unlike anything Florida’s Republican power couple has experienced previously. My The Dispatch on what's next for the Sunshine State's first couple. https://lnkd.in/eAGyaDwr

“If the facts work against the Republican Party—or for the Democratic Party—we’re not going to bury those facts," Jonah Goldberg told Editor & Publisher (E&P) Magazine's Gretchen A. Peck. "Facts matter, and the people who believe that find a little reassurance that they’re not alone.” https://lnkd.in/g2JusiPG

The Dispatch team continues to grow: Please welcome Brittany Prime as our first Director of Commercial Partnerships. I immediately liked Brittany when she explained that her “GSD” monogram on top of her notebook in no way represented her initials but did in fact capture her work ethic. In the days in which Brittany has been with The Dispatch, she’s proven to be a quick study and a talented partner with a nuanced understanding of her market. Here we go, Brittany!
Thrilled to share some news: I’ve joined The Dispatch as their new Director of Commercial Partnerships! Interested in partnering? Let’s connect! 2025 is shaping up to be an incredible year for The Dispatch, and I’m so excited to be part of this amazing team, led by the inimitable Michael Rothman. I’ve been a close follower of The Dispatch since its launch in 2019. Jonah and Steve’s commitment to their founding philosophy—fact-based reporting and commentary, informed by conservative principles—is a huge part of why I’m so excited for this next chapter. At a time when hot takes and clickbait dominate the landscape, The Dispatch stands out with thoughtful, deliberative commentary that prioritizes quality and facts over noise. It’s exactly what we need more of, and I’m thrilled to help with that continued growth. If you’d like to join our community of over 600,000 subscribers, check the comments for a link—10% off annual or premium subscriptions!

Formed in 2009, the Archive Team (not to be confused with the archive.org Archive-It Team) is a rogue archivist collective dedicated to saving copies of rapidly dying or deleted websites for the sake of history and digital heritage. The group is 100% composed of volunteers and interested parties, and has expanded into a large amount of related projects for saving online and digital history.
