Writers Strike One Year Later
Business WGA Leadership Reflects On Strength Of AMPTP Contract, But Members Still Struggle
The WGA officially ended its historic 148-day strike against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television producers on September 27, 2023. The union managed to secure just about everything members had picketed for, but while many writers hoped that the new deal would bring relief after more than five months without work, the reality has been much less promising: Many members still are unable to find a writing job. Deadline’s Katie Campione spoke with WGA West Executive Director and Chief Negotiator Ellen Stutzman to get an update.
