We launched GitHub Copilot June of 2022, just as AI was taking off and the industry was still chock full of naysayers. We were bullish but nervous, expectant but cautiously hopeful. Just two years later, we’ve extended GitHub Copilot from the editor to the pull request to security, scaling the SDLC and our understanding of how this technology can transform the developer experience. Last year, our inaugural developer survey revealed early interest in AI coding tools among just a small group of U.S developers. Today, we’re releasing GitHub’s 2024 Developer Survey, which takes an even closer look at how AI is bringing meaningful change to the workplace and software teams around the world. With the help of 2,000 respondents across the U.S., Brazil, India, and Germany, we found that AI’s benefits on software development teams go far and wide – from improved code quality and security to greater desirability in the job market. We’re diving deep into what developers and those who create with code really think about AI’s impact, and offering insights on how organizations should adapt, including:  🤖 How developers are using AI tools both in and outside of work 👀 If and how organizations are responding to their eager adoption 🔭 The new benefits developers are uncovering as they continue building with AI As the home for developers, we’ve spent the past 16 years in lockstep with our community, helping them navigate some of the most critical technological advancements of our time.
