In the summer of 1999, he was hired by Variety and moved to Los Angeles, and remained in the newsroom covering numerous parts of the industry, including box office, for about a decade. Prior to arriving at Deadline in the fall of 2011, where he co-edited the site's sister publication Awardsline, Anthony covered the box office beat for Indiewire's Thompson on Hollywood.
