MySQL is a core part of GitHub’s infrastructure and we wanted to upgrade our fleet of 1200+ servers to MySQL 8.0. Upgrading the fleet was no small feat–planning, testing, and the upgrade itself took over a year and collaboration across multiple teams within GitHub.
