Two notes about Advanced Data Protection for iCloud:
- iCloud Mail, Calendar, and Contacts are still not E2E
- When enabled, access to iCloud.com is disabled by default. Users can turn on access, which gives the browser + Apple temporary access to encryption keys.

Starting with iOS 16.2, AirDrop automatically reverts to Contacts Only after 10 minutes to prevent unwanted requests to receive content worldwide, according to the release notes. Looks like this is now implemented worldwide, not just in China.

Leakers/reporters can always find out what's coming, but predicting timing is incredibly hard and why you'll often see a lot of "as early as" wording. It's often just logical guesses. Something getting "delayed" might not always be an actual "delay."

Not every new platform is unveiled at WWDC though! The original Apple Watch was "one more thing" at the iPhone 6 event in September 2014, with the WatchKit SDK released in November 2014 and the Apple Watch launching in April 2015.
