After setting up a free Apple Podcast publishing account — where you’re explicitly told you can set your name to something other than what’s on your tax docs — it’s even more infuriating that I pay Apple $100/year for a dev account where I *must* deadname myself on the App Store.

There are studies showing risk of death from COVID complications within 1y of getting infected increases more from each subsequent infection. As in, Your 1st infection gives you a ~30% increased risk. Your 2nd gives you 100% increased risk ON TOP OF the 30%.

The New Statesman is now using the phrase “the trans question”. That any magazine - let alone a left wing one - would conjure a Nazi phrase is sickening. A reminder, then, to the British media: trans people are not an issue, a problem, or a “question”. They’re human beings.

Neon White is SO good, y’all. SO GOOD. I’m also getting back into FF XIV on Steam Deck, lord help me. Also a bunch of brutally-hard 2D platformers (Celeste, Super Meat Boy, SMM2, etc) but that’s research for a prototype so it feels like it “doesn’t count”

I grabbed a drink with friends at an outdoor patio last night, and was disappointed to check my CO2 monitor and realize this *outdoor* space had CO2 levels matching an indoor space. Another data point for “we aren’t being given appropriate risk assessment tools”

This is the first time I’ve ever seen someone hire a live human captioned for a Twitter space (which by default features robo-captions, but robo-captions suck, and Spaces’ implementation is particularly useless). More like this!

Hey folks, I am on the board of directors at Ruby Central This thread is largely my opinion on allyship. So I think it's important to understand that this isn't simply us honoring contracts, this is about facing an expense to break contract that would bankrupt the organization.

.@apple is removing a few of my old games b/c they have “not been updated in a significant amount of time” Games can exist as completed objects! These free projects aren’t suitable for updates or a live service model, they’re finished artworks from years ago.

There are *many* extremely valid reasons to dislike the acquisition, or the direction Unity seems to be moving in as a company. However, it's unlikely "my game will have malware forced on it" will become a threat vector or meaningful risk.

Just because I've had this conversation many times the last 24h: ironSource is (allegedly) no longer a malware company. The story they've been telling for more than a year is that they killed those products to clean up the brand in prep for an IPO.

This is horrible. The GOP just released a national anti-trans bill. It will not pass this year, but this shows their intentions if they win. HB8170 would force teachers to: - Misgender trans students. - Out trans kids to their parents. - Withhold affirming trans kids in therapy.
