Try to ensure consistency between cubelists and lists of cubes, taking into account sensible variable names (e.g: cubelist and cubes) - only use cubelist when it is actually required to be a CubeList.

Currently,
metpy.interpolate.cross_sectiononly operates by interpolating to a geodesic between specified start and end points. This becomes problematic when:
