Org mode

Org is a mode for keeping notes, maintaining TODO lists, and project planning with a fast and effective plain-text markup language. It also is an authoring system with unique support for literate programming and reproducible research.

Currently, only English and German day abbreviations are supported for parsing and I think only English for generating Org-mode time- and date-stamps.

A good start would be to accept all 2- and 3-letter characters as day strings, ignoring them for any further processing. For generating, English might be the best choice since everything else would require much more effort.
