Bootstrap’s Tweets

Hey everyone, here. Wanted to share this update more broadly in case you were wondering about the team and projects. Hoping to be back to shipping things in a few weeks or so as I recover. Meanwhile, take care of yourselves! ❤️

Hey friends—wanted to share something. On Dec 5, I had a massive heart attack that put me in the hospital for two weeks. The first week I was in a medically induced coma in the ICU, frozen Han Solo style to preserve my mind and body. No one knew if I’d still be me when I woke up.

We’ll be bringing CSS variables to more components in each minor v5 release to make customization easier and even reduce file size in some cases. Consider this before and after for our button variant mixin—much simpler! 🤩

While this took a lot of extra time to build, test, and implement, it’s worthwhile to keep Bootstrap open and accessible to as many people, tools, platforms, compilers, and projects as possible. Please share any feedback on it in an issue, and see you again soon for v5.1.0!

The Sass division issue is an important one. Our new custom function replicates the / symbol for dividing without the use of DartSass’s modules system. This way, we support the deprecated LibSass and the current/future Dart Sass without any other tool or project losing support

Bootstrap v5.0.2 has finally arrived with our new custom `divide()` function to fix the Sass division warnings, ability for `.col-*` classes to override `.row-cols-*`, several CSS and JS bugfixes, and docs improvements. On to v5.1.0!

With the deprecation of `/` division in Dart Sass, we’ve been working to find a solution to keep support for LibSass and Dart Sass, so the math.div() module is our last resort at this point. We have a custom divide() function that gets us very close, but we need more time.

Woohoo, Safari 14.1 added gap support to flexbox! (Chrome and FF already had it.) Solid quality of life improvement for those using flex/grid utilities. Check out this quick demo of gap on flex and grid: codepen.io/emdeoh/pen/NWd.

Did you see, Safari 14.1 shipped yesterday... including support for Gaps in Flexbox. (*Can I Use & MDN still need to be updated, so they don't show support yet... but it's there! Try it out.)

How freaking cool is that—Bootstrap helped get a helicopter to fly on Mars! Can’t wait to see what craft or planet uses it next! 🤓

Just realized Bootstrap 4 was part of the the Mars helicopter mission! ? Wonder if it was used for the launch or is actually on Mars right now—either way, so cool. Such an awesome GitHub profile badge, too! github.blog/2021-04-19-ope
