Science Activation provides multiple ways for scientists and other experts to connect with learners. This short video from one of our teams explains how you can make a difference.
Celebrate the launch of the James Webb Space Telescope in your community! Find a Webb Community Event near you (in-person or virtual) to discover what this marvel of engineering, science and human ingenuity will uncover about the first galaxies, the solar system, and distant worlds.
To help connect NASA science with science learners, we have identified those science education standards that are aligned with each division in NASA’s Science Mission Directorate (SMD).
NASA to Award Funds Activating Science for America’s Learners
NASA will award approximately $35 million over four years to eight organizations from across the country to bring agency science to learners of all ages, backgrounds, and communities.
Let NASA bring the universe to your home! We’re inviting every student, educator, and lifelong learner to share in the excitement of scientific discovery and space exploration through unique opportunities from NASA’s Science Activation Program—a community-based approach to connect NASA science with learners of all ages.
Science Activation reaches learners in all 50 states and more than 110 countries around the world. In 2020, we reached an estimated 22 million learners in the US. State by state totals and specific touchpoints are captured in this interactive map for 2019 and 2020.
What is SMD’s Science Activation program? NASA Science has a new team to help learners of all ages “do” science! For the next four years, a cooperative network of thirty-four competitively-selected teams from across the Nation will connect NASA science experts, real content, and experiences with community leaders to do science in ways that activate minds and promote deeper understanding of our world and beyond. The program is informed by a 2019 assessment from NASEM.
A cooperative network of competitively-selected teams across the Nation connects NASA science experts, content, and experiences with communities to activate minds and deepen understanding of our world and beyond.
We extend our reach through strategic partnerships with community-based and audience-based organizations to support institutional, state, and local efforts. These partnerships have increased by 20% since 2016.
NASA and NASA-funded scientists work with Science Activation behind the scenes and directly with learners to share the story, the science, and the adventure of NASA science.
