To reproduce, go to settings and add more than categories at the same time below any category.
When you assign the name for one of the new, the other get the same name.
If you go to the second and try to change the name, the first one gets the second name.

I would need to get each user's hourly rate using the API (this should be one of the user preferences): how should I do it?

When running a collision check and finding an collision, the error isn't too verbose at the moment. It should contain information about the colliding records and instructions on how to fix the collision.
