This ticket serves as a tracker for translations needing updates for fre:ac 1.1.5. It will be updated once the status of a translation changes.

Help is needed to update the translations for fre:ac 1.1.5 which has been released on 27th June 2021.

New translations to as of yet unsupported languages are more than welcome as well of course. If you would like to translate fre:ac to a new language, please take one of the existing translations or the freac.xml file as a starting point.

If you would like to contribute, please take a look at the following translation status list to see where help is needed. Then leave a comment below so I can update the list.

Translation status

This lists the current status of existing fre:ac translations:

If you would like to take over an unmaintained translation or start a new one, please leave a comment below and I will update this list.

Translator resources

fre:ac uses its own XML based translation file format. Translation files can be found in the i18n/lang folder and can be edited either manually using a text editor or with the smooth Translator utility included with fre:ac.

Windows users can use the fre:ac 1.1.5 translation kit as a starting point.

Linux users can use the continuous builds available under releases (Hint: run the AppImage with --appimage-extract to extract it and access the translation files directly).

Alternatively, you can use the Crowdin translation platform to edit the translations online. The fre:ac project's Crowdin page is found at: https://crowdin.com/project/freac

Hi @chandratushu21, sorry for answering only now. I'm in the middle of preparing a new fre:ac release these days.

Thank you for coming forward! It's great that you would like to contribute to translating fre:ac. Any help is welcome and appreciated.

The translation process depends a bit on the platform you're working on. If you are a Windows user, there's the translation kit linked in the main post above. It includes a short guide and the Translator utility that can be used to create or edit translations.

There's no translation kit for Linux, but I can guide you through the steps to get set up for translating. Just let me know. Things are a bit more complicated on macOS. Due to package signing it's a more difficult process to try out your own translation changes in fre:ac. But we'll find a solution if needed.

fre:ac also has a project site on Crowdin. If you are on that platform and would like to use it for translating fre:ac, let me know and I will setup the target language there.

So basically, let me know which platform you are on and what language you would like to translate to. You can also reach me at translations@freac.org if you prefer to discuss this via email.

Great! Thank you very much! I added some minor fixes (e.g. menu entries ending in ... were not showing) and checked it in to the repository.

You can also create pull requests here to add your changes. You'll then be credited in the Git history automatically (I changed the author ID for the initial commit so it will show you, but using pull requests will be easier going forward).
