    On the subject of things unnecessarily called "master", I still think "trunk" is a better default branch name for git. 🌳

    Software development still has a lot of terminology with a racist or patriarchal background. Let's change that. - Blacklist ➡ Denylist - Whitelist ➡ Allowlist - Killer app ➡ Beloved app - Master/slave ➡ primary/replica

    On macOS, make sure you don't use Homebrew-provided root CA bundles, like /usr/local/etc/openssl/cert.pem /usr/local/etc/openssl@1.1/cert.pem Regrettably, they decided it's ok to leave those behind without security updates =(

    I have trouble letting go of "ephemeral". 😭

    I'd say 50% of my job is rewriting paragraphs of text to explain ideas whilst ensuring technical accuracy. 50% of that work is removing words like "ephemeral" and replacing it with alternatives like "temporary".

    This is an intriguing level of promised interop. Both companies have the right people to understand the technical and social issues, and I hope that people dying isn't the only motivator for such collaboration in the future. 🤞

    I'm very happy to see & partnering on technology to help w/ COVID-19 contact tracing. Technology, coupled w/ strong consideration of privacy, will enable public health authorities to create apps w/ appropriate user opt-in.

    I’d like to announce that I’m looking for a new role. Much of what I what I do is being a foundational builder of the privacy engineering field and leading teams so companies build products and infrastructure which are respectful of privacy, security, and anti-abuse.
