Phalcon is a full stack PHP framework, delivered as a PHP extension, offering lower resource consumption and high performance. Founded in 2012 and over the years established a small but dedicated community. People and organizations all over the world depend on Phalcon for their projects.

Phalcon is developed in a language that we have invented called Zephir. With its PHP-style syntax, it helps us maintain Phalcon with ease. It also offers an easy way for developers to create PHP extensions.

💖 Team

We are a small team of three developers, Anton, Ruud, Nikos and Serghei, who work on the project in their own free time. Our wonderful community continuously suggests new features, fixes bugs and pushes us to make Phalcon better on a daily basis.

🔭 Mission

Our mission is to establish Phalcon as one of the go-to frameworks for PHP, that has a wealth of features while offering performance and lower resource consumption. Doing so requires resources and time.

We have released v4 which brought Phalcon in alignment with PSR interfaces and thus making it more extendable, and introduces the ground work for additional changes and enhancements to come in future versions.

💸 Funding

We already have some funds available to us from existing backers and sponsors. We always try to use the funds wisely. Lately we have been using the funds to pay for developers to help us with Zephir as well as tasks for Phalcon, i.e. upgrading applications to v4, work on the developer tools, migrations, sample applications etc.

✨ Goals

Full Time Development! One of our main goals is to be able to have sustained funding on a per month basis, so that we can sponsor one developer for a day or two per week to work on Phalcon full time. The more funds we can secure, the more time we can request from a developer to spend on Phalcon.

If we can obtain a steady funding stream where we can pay a developer full time, would greatly help the framework.

Phalcon Company

Our long term plan is to create a company that would offer support and services to companies all around the world. We are not there yet and in order to do so, we will need your help with these early baby steps.
