Focused crawls are collections of frequently-updated webcrawl data from narrow (as opposed to broad or wide) web crawls, often focused on a single domain or subdomain.
I haven't started using the "public" class variables that came along with 3.0 so I'm not sure right now how it would work...but asserting that these properties work or exist should be good.
