I do not see any option in the extensions settings to change the user-local-time format to 12h, it would be great if it were possible to change it.

Could you add a newline indicator too, I find them useful when used in conjunction with space/tab indicators. So you can tell if there is an annoying superfluous space/tab before the \n.

UTF-8 has several of these characters to choose from.

As per the current implementation (check the background script), the settings tab is opened on every onInstalled event.
