Some documentation on how to register a Catalog with an entry point would be helpful. This would allow us to register non YAMLFileCatalog to the global Intake catalog.

The short answer is:

In some cases, the user may know the list of files they want to access without knowing the corresponding attributes/metadata present in the catalog. It would be useful to have a tutorial that answers the following questions:

• How do I know if intake-esm can read them (present in the catalog)?
• How do I load data from

Maybe pydocstyle can help to check static docstrings (you also can ignore erros you think any one doesn't apply for pydov).
