A school district in Alaska takes the reins of the Yup'ik Atlas, an online, interactive platform that archives Yup'ik places names and culture passed down from their elders. The Exchange of Local Observations and Knowledge of the Arctic (ELOKA), a NSIDC program, helps bring the atlas to life and continues to support communities in their ongoing efforts to thwart the loss of knowledge.

Sean Horvath, a PhD student at the University of Colorado Boulder, gained Arctic research experience by taking part in the Multidisciplinary drifting Observatory for the Study of Arctic Climate (MOSAiC) School. The school is affiliated with the MOSAiC expedition, a $150-million scientific research mission to study the Arctic climate system by freezing a German icebreaker into sea ice for a year.

Arctic sea ice has likely reached its maximum extent for the year, at 15.05 million square kilometers (5.81 million square miles) on March 5, 2020, according to scientists at the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) at the University of Colorado Boulder. The 2020 maximum is the eleventh lowest in the 42-year satellite record.

A new data visualization tool, the Sea Ice Analysis Tool, has just been added to the Arctic Sea Ice News & Analysis (ASINA) website. The tool helps users customize sea ice extent and concentration data into graphs or maps based on their chosen criteria.

Snow Today is a new tool available to help snow lovers monitor conditions. It provides near-real-time updates of snow conditions across the Northern Hemisphere as well as monthly analyses of the data, focusing on the Western United States.
