Setting European Union Prices
How EU Prices Affect Your Royalty Payments
How EU Prices Affect Your Royalty Payments
As of January 1, 2015, the list prices customers see for KDP eBooks in European Union Kindle stores now include the rate of Value Added Tax (VAT) for the primary countryregion of each Kindle store. We'll continue to calculate royalties based on the list price without VAT. The amount of VAT applied depends on the country or region where the customer is located.
For example, consider a book with a £6.00 VAT-inclusive list price on Amazon.co.uk. For sales to customers in the UK, we would apply the UK’s 20% VAT rate and the price we use to calculate royalty would be £5.00. A customer buying from Ireland would still see a suggested list price of £6.00, but the VAT rate applicable to sales to Ireland is 9%. After applying the 9% Irish VAT rate, we would calculate royalty based on the VAT-exclusive list price of £4.88.
