    WHOI chemist Ken Buesseler is in the Marshall Islands equipping residents with sampling equipment so they can monitor radiation levels in the ocean around . He's also learning firsthand about their history of living so close to the legacy of US weapons testing.

    If you keep your eyes on deck during a deployment, you’ll see a well-choreographed ballet of people and lines, all focused on getting the vehicle into the water and back on deck as quickly and safely as possible.

    Deploying NUI is no small feat. The operations team tightly coordinates all actions and movement on the deck, using tow lines to steady the large craft as an onboard crane does the heavy lifting.
