    I hadn't thought about this, and now I'm thinking, what would be a better replacement for 'lazy' in Kotlin? DelayedInitialization? Procrastinated? 🤔

    Lazy is an ableist term. It equiparates the unwillingness to do something (procrastination) with the inability to do/start something while actively trying (executive dysfunction). It makes the latter believe they should be able to do stuff at will, causing shame and guilt.

    i asked the C++ standards committee to consider giving shorter names to commonly used methods on std::vector and the like but they didn’t seem very keen on the idea, i just got a lot of push_back

    This also applies to the speedrunning community in spades, from the "that guy"s and other people who are missing stairs, to the way that the community is not one monolithic community, but is a large collection of smaller communities.

    THREAD: Almost every gaming group I've been in, and almost every local game shop I've been to, has had That Guy. If you're any sort of geek right now, you can probably picture him. A little rude. A lot socially awkward. Sometimes says things that make you cringe a little.

    As month draws to a close, give gratitude to trans activists of color: Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Riviera, & others integral at Stonewall, instigating progress on LGBTQIA+ rights/visibility. It's a travesty that trans POC are still marginalized even in their own community.
