A man shouting anti-Semitic slurs opened fire in a synagogue, armed with an AR-15 rifle and at least three handguns. The suspect, Robert Bowers, was in custody.
According to the Anti-Defamation League, the attack was among the deadliest against the Jewish community in the United States.
Federal prosecutors charged Mr. Bowers with 29 criminal counts, including hate crimes. He also faces state charges.
