| @blarty lol you cant be serious. Nothing about the scenes were really spoilers hence why nd decided to show it and how the hell do you know the brutal skirmish was unnecessary smh. Its time you got off your high horse and quit acting like eurogamer jr tlou world is a violent, deadly but beautiful place so get used to the violence because thats the world those characters live in. I mean its no more violent than any other game out there so I dont see how you have any kind of beef with it unless you have some kind of agenda which if thats the case grow up. |

@Ivattthestanier Ha, I can appreciate that and also spend a sizable chunk of my income getting away from my home country. Yes, Dirt Rally really is amazing, although I have to be in the mood for it's level of seriousness and I'm far from mastering it. I recently got a steering wheel (Logitech Driving Force GT) and the DriveHub adapter so I can use it on Xbox and PS4 - something I've wanted for years. The immersion really adds to the experience. Lately I've been spending all of my game time in GT Sport, but I also have Dirt Rally, all the Forza Horizons, and Forza Motorsport 6. Oh, and Wipeout Omega. Yes, another slice of Europe would be great to see in the next Horizons, so much to explore there. I'm sure we'll see more once the inevitable Japan map is it of the way. One comment I liked the sound of regarding the UK map is the focus on verticality. |

| Got to love eurogamer sticking to their bias against Sony. Almost every gaming site has sung the praises of Spider-Man,ghosts and tlou part 2 yet not one made the list but freaking skull and bones, another forza and ac odyssey which that one is borderline fine made the list just smh. Not one of those games will score higher than those three Sony exclusives even though eurogamer will stick with their bias and not give any of them recommended besides possibly tlou part 2 while giving essential to skulls,ac and forza |

@Fourfoldroot One of the biggest reasons Sony are where they are this generation is because they got significant goodwill after the initial Xbone reveal was a PR disaster. These companies somehow manage to keep forgetting the relative volatility of the market from generation to generation. And I say this as someone who's mostly been a huge fan of Sony, for most of the same reasons you list (VR especially). And it's not "ultimately unimportant," they're having a direct impact on a third party service on a competitor's product in a way that hasn't really been seen before. If you've EVER linked your Epic account to a PS4, even if it wasn't for Fortnite (if you're one of the ten people who tried Paragon, for example), you're still locked out of using that Epic account on your Switch, even if you unlink it from the PS4. This isn't crossbuy or crossplay, this is holding a third-party account that's used for multiple games hostage upon linking. I can't really think of any equivalent examples. |

@JiveHound hey if it comes with a fancy new engine, all the better. My optimistic side wants to think they held off until tech was available that would support a proper leap forward. You'd have to think, given the time between the games, that this one will be a vastly improved experience. Which is a nice thought. |

@Paul1979UK "Ah I've figured it out why Sony doesn't want to do crossplay, they don't want to look bad up agaisnt PC and Xbox One X gamers, it's all making sense now" I know you're kidding, but the PS4 and Pro versions operate at a very consistent 60fps as well - and that's the single most important metric for a game like Fortnite. It's also worth noting that the current combined cross-platform player base of Fortnite on PS4, PC, Mac and mobile dwarfs the current combined cross-platform player base of Fortnite on Xbox One, Switch, PC, Mac and mobile. All of that aside, yes - in terms of console cross-play, of course Sony needs to chill and get on board with games like Fortnite and Rocket League. Minecraft is a completely different story, as it has a mandatory Xbox Live login for all versions (of Better Together). If Sony begins to relent and participate in console cross-play, it's going to start with third-party games that have a sort of 'agnostic' network handshake -- not a game that requires an XBL login. Because, you know, those precious MAU network hits. They'd be handing over tens of millions of free hits to Microsoft in that case. |

| @xYOSSARIANx I still tend to think a good possibility is a combination of Elseweyr and Valenwood...possibly even Lleyawiin? Granted, Daggerfall is a long way in the past, but locating it in Hammerfell or High Rock would still be the first time they returned to a location. The topography could represent the coast of Elseweyr, and though I've never seen Khajiit architecture outside of caravan trnts, I could imagine a middle eastern architectural motif. |

@chrismikehunt That's the change in mindset with Fortnite, and as a long term Halo player, it's a major adjustment. You need to follow, build first, shoot later instead. It's totally alien in a shooter, it really is. But I think it's the thing that separates it from PUBG and why it has become popular so quickly. Anyone struggling with the building, really should try the Pro Builder control scheme on consoles and get used to the building controls in 50 vs. 50 where the pressure is a lot less. |

@cap87 I literally said 'Graphics Cards could be sold with higher margins, in other PC markets other and gaming, like Video rendering, CGi, Machine learning etc.' There is such a thing as yield, minimum orders, overheads and other running costs. For AMD to be successful in the PC space they need to sell their cards in other markets and not just the very top end. Selling their cards to the gamers is what pays the bills, and selling to the other markets is what makes them their profits, it's the same with CPU's the desktop markets yields very low margins but it's enough to cover expenses and R&D; costs, but it's the sales of their Threadripper and EPYC CPU's that make them the most profits. (If this is all true that is, I'm not convinced it is.) this move also lost them Raja Kadori, and he was one of the main engineers that drove the Radeon group forward before AMD took over, and his return was meant to revive the graphics division and make their GPU's more competitive. This is also the reason why I'm not convinced this story is true, as Navi has been on the roadmap for years already and this architecture was meant to be his brainchild, the first architecture Raja worked on from the start and not something he inherited from his predecessors like the Vega line-up was. |

@45709 give it a bit of a chance, it actually took me a while to get used to switching between shooting and building, and it's really hard to do well as you have to think about quite a bit at the same time. I'm still not quite sure I like the shooting, it doesn't feel quite right to me yet, but it's still fun enough for a few rounds every now and again |

Yeah I've actually been pretty impressed with it. I've been playing docked and while it has obvious cutbacks the cartoon style graphics mean you don't really notice that much when you get into the flow of the game. I hope they can smooth out the framerate a little bit when you get multiple players close together, it does get a little bit choppy but so far the only time I'd say it's actually had a serious effect on playability is when I tried the 50vs50 mode. Towards the end that just got messy and I did feel the framerate was seriously limiting playability. But yeah stick to same platform and it shouldn't be too unfair. |

@hixbot Bargain price is not really that much of a problem for a console, since the point is to sell software anyway. Your controlled software. This was probably why Sony were so completely uninterested to put a BDHD in the PS4. But since, they know that most machines sold are for the games. But sure, the CPU will be relatively more upgraded (don't buy an actual downgrade compared to anything on market now though, that makes no sense) Graphics are really starting to be taxing enough for AAA developers already though. I think they will be quite happy if the keywords meant to sell the next generation are things like AI, higher framerates, more immersive controllers, and with those VR, most probable. Because just better graphics will be a harder sell than ever. And I think they sense VR on a ull scale could be reasonable now. Microsoft stayed out of it this round, but I sure doubt the both got on with Oculus and did all that R&D; for their own helmet things for no reason. |

@raloB You keep making assumptions, bud. I still don't see anything that you typed that's applicable to me.Them moving to games as a service affects everyone. Your piss-poor, transparent attempt to brush the potential off as not affecting every single one of us doesn't wash with me, nor I'd expect anyone else. However, don't be alarmed when I tell you that your hobby is the fruit of someone else's labour. Show some humility and be grateful for their work rather than lambasting the efforts they make to be compensated for it!No idea what the fuck you're going on about, here. If not, I challenge you to go make a game for me, since you seem to think you know me so well.No idea what the fuck you're going on about, here. So in summary you have nothing to counter my points and throw counter points that don't in any way connect to anything I've said (where have I said I don't want to pay for games, or value the work of developers? What does that even have to do with Game Passes?). /golfclap |
Posted in Get six months of Xbox Game Pass for half price this week
| @harryisme You and a lot of people are being severely short sighted. Think of this for a second, why would AMD care about gamers who pay say... US $500 for a gaming card when they could just focus on the enterprise who are a lot less price sensitive and can pay US $7,800 for ONE Radeon Instinct 16GB HBM2 card? Their 7nm yields are probably very low and are best served by being sold to people with big money. PC gamers at the present time are no longer AMD's priority as it should be since they have a limited amount of resources and need to be profitable, which contrary to popular belief does not align with what gamers want. Custom SoC's might have lower margins but provide steady income which is what they are focusing in right now. |

@sethsez Sure, people can bitch and complain about something ultimately unimportant until Sony are forced to take a massive financial hit. Unfortunately Sony don't have the money of MS to withstand that and continue doing what I want, which is creating fantastic games and taking risks on things like VR. Ms know this, unfortunately the general gaming public don't. |

@OpperMeneer Its not because I still buy blurays, that I don't want to have a Netflix subscription, even if content comes and goes. These are 2 fundamentally different things, there's place for both and their successes prove it. I see the same happening with Game Pass if the games on it keep being interesting.Again, you're missing the point. If its more lucrative for publishers to put games out under their subscription service, why would they also put their games out on disc? Or as a digital download? The point would surely be, wall your games behind your own service so that people have to subscribe to access them. Netflix Original (true original) have an initial shelf life only via Netflix. You can buy the Blu Ray versions at some point down the line but only when interest has likely completely fallen off. Yes, disc and subscription can co-exist (and do...currently) but if subscription becomes the preferred model of delivery, what would be the point? Gated content is the future, whilst ever there's a seeming appetite for it. The problem is, just like MTs stemming from Horse Armour, a seemingly innocent concept, it can grow into something that you have no control over. Literally no control. Want to watch Stranger Things season 3? Get that Netflix subscription cracking. Want to watch it in (lol) 4K? Get that higher tier Netflix subscription cracking. If you think the same won't happen to video games, you're going to be very disappointed in a few years. |
Posted in Get six months of Xbox Game Pass for half price this week
| @bennicholson So you complain about people complaining? Great logic there buddy. The consoles could have done so much better had they not skimped hardcore on the CPU side of things. By the way those are some heavily overpriced parts you bought, I got mine for slightly less than $1,700 and that's factoring in a 1080 Ti, i5 8600K, 1TB 960 Evo and 16gb of DDR4. |

@IronGiant WEll, maybe because the new Creed was playable and not a 7 minute Bullshot, which was all you got of TLOU2. It was, along with Spiderman, one of the best trailers at E3 but be under no illusions, none of either presentation was actual playable gamecode. The biggest disappointment was the lack of actual gameplay in a lot of the Big releases (unless you are a smash Bros fan in which case we got about 30 mins too much). I'd sum up this year as there are 'probably' a lot of really good games coming out in the next 18 months. |
