I'm greatly enjoying the class and amazed by how much I was able to learn in one month. Signing up for this class was probably one of the best (if not the best) decisions I made this year!

You've given a wonderful opportunity to great many people around
the globe. AI has always been of a great interest to me, and you're
fulfilling my wish from childhood :)
Please, keep up!

I am convinced that learning via the internet from leaders in the field is the way forward in education.

I live on a 100 acre farm in the Aussie Bush, and while I
love living here, I don't meet other programmers often, let alone
anyone working at the frontiers of research...for the last few weeks watching the lectures and doing the assignments
has been the highlight of my week.
Thank you!

I assure you that none can be more amazed than myself at these results, since all I have is a high
school degree [and] 26 years of work experience in software development and general IT. [on receiving perfect scores on all homeworks so far]

The subjects are clearly explained and taught with a lot of enthusiasm...I really appreciate what you are doing and I quite enjoy the lectures.
Thanks for all the effort you put into this.

I'm really enjoying the class, and am very grateful for the
opportunity that is being offered. It's an important step in the
evolution of how we spread knowledge to everyone who wants to learn.

I love the field of AI and I'm grateful for this opportunity to learn more about
it. In fact, I hope to one day go back for my masters degree for it.
Thank you for making this class possible...

I've heard the term A* used in the context of computer games, and
Bayesian networks in the context of spam filtering. Thanks to this
class, I have a much better understanding of those, and more.
Jon

Thank you so much for pushing me forward. This is just a normal result of your and Prof. Peter's amazing work.

I have never believed I would enjoy a class so much!

I thought I'd tell you it's truly amazing what you are doing with this
class!
Just thinking, what if people could do a couple of years of online
classes, and then be able to join research groups if capable?

Thank you so much for the AI class. I really have an overall understanding of the AI field in general and I think I can already identify certain areas that interest me.
The classes were really well taught and presented in a way that a novice could truly understand the material.

Most interested in technology I've been for years. Several moments over the last few weeks have been literally jaw dropping. Beautiful Maths and fantastic applications. Terrific stuff, glad to have taken part.

It was a super course! Over this time I learn so much new things! Now I am looking for any hours to implement those algorithms in real life.
Roman
-
Wonderful, really wonderful. Keep it up - you've introduced the world to a fascinating subject.

The layout of the course, small queries on lectures, weekly homeworks, mid-term and a final = extremely efficient way to learn, it is sticky. I hope more universities learn from this method, it is superior (I have 6 years of studies, up to MSc level and this is clearly the best I have seen)

Doing this course has also rekindled one of my life-long dreams to
pursue a career in AI research.

Many of the good things about this class boil down to a few simple facts. Peter and Sebastian are excellent teachers with a deep knowledge of the subject matter and a real passion for the field. The team was able to adapt when problems occurred. The topic and format were handled in a way that kept everyone's interest.

As a home-schooled high school student, I must say I was not sure as to how well I would do in a collegiate level course...I believe that this class has much potential to encourage the youth of today to work hard to achieve something big.

I really enjoyed the class, it made me hunger for more. Not only did I learned a lot about AI and I also learned what I need to continue my personal education. I’m also energized to do it. I believe the experiment was a huge success.

This course has been one of the most rewarding education experiences I've had. Please, continue with the idea of giving people worldwide easy access to first class education.

I never have thought that I will learn so much in short span of time with clear understanding. And by offering such courses online it provides a great opportunity for people like us who are across globe to learn from experts.
Prakash
-
The course is fantastic. I never knew I could use the discussed techniques in my work straightaway.
Evgeny

I worked at the AI group at NASA/Ames back in the mid-80s. The topic has changed so much since then, and this course gave me a nice framework for understanding some of the more well-understood topics in the field today.

I really liked the class. I liked the format of the hand-written lectures along with the quizzes. I liked the combination of fundamental concepts with practical applications. I liked the contrast between Peter's and Sebastian's lectures and emphasis.
Jonas
-
Trillions of thanks to both professors! I have to admit that I paused a lot to think it over or do the quizzes. This helps me understand the content better but is only possible with a video based course. I mean, this is better than a live course.

I cannot find good enough words to thank you for the great teaching experience! You've managed to transfer your enthusiasm to students and undoubtedly spur the passion for Artificial Intelligence in many hearts :)

In general, a great experience! Kudos to Sebastian, Peter, yourself, and all of the hard-working support folks involved in this groundbreaking endeavor. I tell folks that it is kind of the Online Woodstock of the digital era – a truly seminal event!

Two months ago Artificial Intelligence seemed like something unreachable to me.
Thanks to the great work of Professors Thrun and Norvig, I have now a better understanding of a lot of topics covered by AI.
Alexandre
Enrollment is closed. We hope to offer more online classes in the future, and you can watch the lectures for this course on youtube.
A bold experiment in distributed education, "Introduction to Artificial Intelligence" will be offered free and online to students worldwide from October 10th to December 18th 2011. The course will include feedback on progress and a statement of accomplishment. Taught by Sebastian Thrun and Peter Norvig, the curriculum draws from that used in Stanford's introductory Artificial Intelligence course. The instructors will offer similar materials, assignments, and exams.
Artificial Intelligence is the science of making computer software that reasons about the world around it. Humanoid robots, Google Goggles, self-driving cars, even software that suggests music you might like to hear are all examples of AI. In this class, you will learn how to create this software from two of the leaders in the field. Class begins October 10.
