Writers' Choice FAQ - Updated: October 12, 2009
Updated: October 12, 2009
1) Can I crosspost ficlets/drabbles to Writers' Choice?
Absolutely. You can even post your Writers' Choice ficlets to other sites, as long as the sites or communities don't mind.
2) Do I have to mark it as having been posted to Writers' Choice?
No. We'd like it if you would as it's advertising for Writers' Choice, but it is not necessary.
3) Can I post something that I wrote last week from _____ community?
Yes. We ask that you label it as so. It's free advertisement for the other community.
4) Can I make suggestions for challenges, submit pictures, etc?
Absolutely. You can respond to any wc_moderator post with them.
5) I own/manage another drabble community will you put a link to the community on your Info page?
If it is not an RPS or RPF community, yes. Just ask. We would ask that you return the favor.
6) I have a LJ/website/etc and I want to link to Writers' Choice, can I?
Yes.
7) I have a question for the moderators, what do I do?
You can either e-mail us or you can respond/comment to any wc_moderator post and ask them. (Maybe you're not the only who has that question.)
8) How many challenges does Writers' Choice have a year?
51. We have a two week Open Challenge at the end of every year. That said, sometimes a challenge will have several things you can pick from (word, image, quote). You do not need to write on all, but you can.
9) Can I do a crossover with multiple shows/movies/books/ets?
Yes. Just make sure you label.
10) Is there a deadline for the challenges?
Not any longer. Challenges are now open ended. New challenges will still be posted every week, but you now have longer to work with each challenge.
11) Can I post/write for a past challenge?
Yes. Just remember to label which challenge/prompt you are writing for/answering.
12) Adult Content allowed? How should it be marked?
Answers to community challenges (drabbles/ficlets, etc) may contain content of an adult nature. 'Adult' implies nudity, violence and/or sexual themes as described in the written word. All stories of an adult nature should be placed behind the lj-cut tag and should include a warning in the header text before the lj-cut explaining that there is adult content. [EX: Warning: This drabble contains content of an adult nature.]
13) Do I need to be cautious with the text I put in the lj-cut tag?
Yes. Please make sure the text you put there is Work Safe.
14) I don't have an author tag or my fandom doesn't have a tag, what do I do?
Use the new: author or new: fandom tag. Once a week or so one of the Mods will go in and create new tags for anything posted with those tags.
15) Are non-fic posts allowed on Writers_Choice?
Yes. BUT, they must be Mod approved before posting them to the community. The acceptable non-fic posts allowed include: Mod Posts, Challenge Announcments, and announcements for new drabble communities or affiliates
16) Can I affiliate with Writers_Choice?
Yes. If you are a mod of another drabble/writing community and would like to affiliate with us, please comment here.
17) Is real person fiction allowed?
No. No real person slash or fiction is allowed. [Yes, you can mention Harrison Ford in a drabble but the drabble itself CANNOT be about Harrison Ford's friday night at the movies.] We get that RPF/RPS is the hottest thing in fandom since sliced bread, but Writers_Choice is not the place for it.
Note: If you are not sure about a rule or have a question, please email any of the mods or respond/comment to any wc_moderator post and ask them. (Maybe you're not the only who has that question.)
