A distance stone of the Twentieth Legion found at or near Old Kilpatrick, before 1695. It is now on display in The Hunterian Museum, Glasgow [object number GLAHM F.14].
The inscription reads "For the Emperor Caesar Titus Aelius Hadrianus Antoninus Augustus Pius, father of his country, a detachment of the Twentieth Valiant and Victorious Legion built [this] over a distance of 4411 feet".
The stone is one of 19 that have been discovered along the Antonine Wall. Together, they provide a unique record of the construction of the wall and form the most important collection of Roman sculpture on any Roman frontier.
