VB.com since 1129 / 1370
a story that left
and a story that returned.
Behind the sceens of a Two Letter Domain
VB.com is a curated list
about Brand and Hotel culture.
It is also a geographic hotspot
that has seen a multitude of creative people
through a long period of time
giving us the idea to show
excellence in branding on a global scale.
VB is near the Louvre Museum of France
at Cremerie de Paris / Hotel de Villeroy Bourbon
11 rue des Déchargeurs 75001 Paris / France
The modern VB.com is rooting
in old VB stories from the past.
Some are based on a little child,
young Louis XIV.
1646 The 3rd Bourbon King of France
came to the place
which was the home of his teacher Nicolas V. de Villeroy.
The grandparents of both
Nicolas IV de Villeroy
and the 1st Bourbon King Henri IV
had already been there.
Even the grandmother of the Bourbons
Marguerite de Navarre,
a Renaissance writer from the Playade
has already come by.
She was a friend of Leonardo da Vinci
who painted the Mona Lisa
but also of Nicolas II de Villeroy
who invited her to the house
for litterature reunions.
1671 When the castle of Versailles was build
Louis XIV invited the Villeroy children to live there,
so they sold the VB mansion,
in the family since almost 300 years.
End of a story
and birth of a new one.
Avant-garde tech entrepreneurs
started something new,
the Royal French Postal Services
carrying letters with horses.
Louis Leon Pajot (1678 - 1754) worked
with Anselm Franz von Thurn & Taxis (1681 - 1739),
another postman based in Brussels and Frankfurt.
While Louis XIV loved the Postal Services,
Louis XV
was envious of it's glamour and prspertity.
1738 he withdraw the post license.
End of a story
Over time the story was forgotten in Paris
but it remained in the memory
of the Thurn & Taxis.
Transmitting the VB story ![]() 1853 Empress Eugenie (1826-1920) became the creative mind of a new project Renovation of the old Les Halles foodmarket with the creation of the Pavillons Baltard, rue de Rivoli / rue des Halles. While the landscape of central Paris changed the old Hotel de Villeroy Bourbon stayed in place. 1860s Living at the nearby Tuileries Eugenie lioved to walk her young son Louis Napoléon Bonaparte (1856-1879) to VB to tell him about young Louis XIV. a boy of the same age that had been to VB 2 centuries earlier 1870 Paris had turned into a beautiful city but Bismarck caused the fall of the Second Empire. Eugenie and Napoleon III had to leave. Queen Victoria granted them exil in England. Eugenie lived another 50 years, nostalgic about Paris she continued to tell the VB fairytales to new children, among them Alix Hessen (1872-1918) a granddaughter of her friend Victoria (1819-1901). |
The VB story travelled from Russia to Paris 1894 Alix Hessen married Nicolas II of Russia ![]() 1910s Alix Hessen had 5 children who loved the stories about VB. Olga (1895-1918).Tatiana (1897-1918), Maria (1899-1918), Anastasia (1901-1918) and Alexei (1904-1918) They all wanted to visit Paris to see Cremerie de Paris / VB and the Pavillons Baltard foodmarket. Only Olga went there as a very small child 1997 Fox Studios cartoon created a "Musik Box" which was given to Anastasia. While the box playing the song "Once Upon December" is Hollywood fiction, the real one exists, it's not a "music box" but "Cremerie de Paris" Other children from the inner cercles of the Romanovs also knew about the "VB stories" This is how they survived the revolution. . The oldest one was Dmitri Romanov (1891-1942) 1921 He showed VB / Cremerie de Paris to Coco Chanel (1883-1971). They fell in love, What is left from their affair is the CC Logo, N°5 and a little jewel. ![]() Among the younger was Carl Solms (1903-2004) Alexei Romanov admired him for being sporty. Over half a century later Carl repeated the VB fairytales to a child born two generations later. Eleonore Solms (1871-1937) the sister of Carl's father Reinhard Ludwig Solms (1867-1951) was also the sister in law of the Tsarina, Alix Hessen. "Onor" had married Ernst Ludwig Hessen (1868-1937) "Ernie" was also an uncle of Philipp Mountbatten (1921-2021), husband of Queen Elisabeth II (1926-2022). Eleonore and the Tsarina were great friends. As a result all the children around Eleonore played together and Eugenie's VB legends and fairytales rom Paris stayed alive. As an old man Carl was poor, very shy, he lived in another, no longer existing world not much communicationg with adults, only with children. Nobody paid much attention not ralising that Carl was the last survivor of the inner cercle of the Romanovs. What is left is that his stories turned into cross keyborad adjacent Two Letter Domain VB.com 1980 When the new child turned 15 he traveled to Paris to find out if Cremerie de Paris / VB, still existed. The Pavillons Baltard were gone but Cremerie de Paris was still there in poor condition like an abandonned place, closed down after the departure of the les Halles foodmarket |
It was a story that had left ..
so the idea came up to
make it become
a
Story that returns,
but unfortunately nothing was left
from the Romanov fortunes.
Exept a little touch of magic.
Return of a Story |
2011 The Internetcafe was replaced
by the first Pop Up Store.
We had the chance to run into many different brand builders
this gave the idea to create the list
to showcase brand culture
from different backgrounds.
Today VB hosts Pop Up Stores.
Many brands on the list have come to launch
their latest products at Cremerie de Paris
If your brand is missing
all you need to do is to apply for a Pop Up
with a project that is so beautiful
it will become part of our VB story.
