Tutorial 7 - Punch my way through?

So today class we are going to create Punch your way through from this this base. :D

1. So, you get your base (I'm using KJ from some season 2 ep) if it needs to be lightened/darkened etc do so now.

2. Then you copy this gradient > By lil_brokenangel < (by, I think, lil_brokenangel) and set to Exclusion. It looks horrid but no worries! (It should, hopefully, look like this. If not, check the settings. :D)

3. Copy the background/base, bring it above the Exclusion layer and set to Overlay. A bit more lurid, but no worries. :D (Are we looking a bit like this? Yaay if we are, eeeps if we're not. :D)

4. Copy that layer, but set to Screen at 75%. The stars look a bit dimmer now (which is good for the poor eyeballs! :D) (Hopefully we look like this image here. Did you remember that it was 75%?)

5. Now it's the border and text. If you don't want it, no worries. What I did was set the font to 'Futura Bk BT' at size 10 in white, and placed the text where I wanted it (around the arm, cause there was space, and I don't like space in some icons. In others it's prefectly ok! :D). Then I Right clicked and converted the Vector layer (the text) to Raster Layer (on PSP click the layer, right click, then pick the choice at the bottom of the menu).

6. Then add a Drop Shadow
(Offset: Vertical - 1
Horizontal - 1

Opacity: 100%
Blur: 0

Color: Black)

and set it to Overlay.

7. Save, and you're done! :D (A pic of my layer palette: Palette)

Any questions? Seriously, if you have a problem, comment. :)

Now, does anyone want a tutorial for this Doctor Who icon? Because I can make one pretty quickish. :)
