  • what is your version of fedora? I've tested for version in {36..40} ; do podman run -it --rm fedora:${version} dnf install --assumeno mysql; done; and it works with all these versions. Are you perhaps using a Fedora version so old that its package archives are no longer active? Commented Mar 27, 2024 at 16:51
  • I have the version 34 wtf: $ rpm -E %fedora gives 34 Commented Mar 27, 2024 at 17:02
  • no you don't. Your /etc/os-release clearly says you're running amazon linux, which is not fedora. Fedora is just listed as "alike". Try explicitly install mariadb, i.e., dnf install mariadb. Commented Mar 27, 2024 at 18:23
